Installation & Durability

What should be checked to prevent tile damage around solar roof hooks?

Use the correct hook for the actual tile profile, and check the selected system’s required clearances and attachment details. K2’s Tile Hook 3S guide specifies a bracket-to-tile gap; that value is not universal. IronRidge’s All Tile Hook instructions place the arm in the valley of S/W tiles and advise avoiding tile joints on flat tiles. Make only the tile-lug modifications permitted by the installation guide so the tile can be refitted correctly. Check for rocking, raised tile edges, cracks or unintended pressure from the hook. Do not force an unsuitable hook under a tile or copy another system’s clearance. If fit cannot be achieved as instructed, consult the mounting-system supplier and a qualified roofer.
