Installation & Durability
How should PV cables be supported beneath rooftop solar modules?
Updated 2026-11-01 · JINSHANG
Route and secure PV cables so they do not rub against roof shingles, sharp edges, fasteners or other abrasive surfaces. DOE identifies failed cable supports, wind-driven movement and overtightened ties as risks to cable insulation. JA Solar’s module manual directs installers to secure cables to support structures, avoid cable stress and keep connectors off roof surfaces. Use suitable sunlight-resistant ties or wire-management clips compatible with the cable and the permitted mounting location. Do not pinch insulation, force tight bends or leave connectors where water can immerse them. Follow the specific module, racking, cable and connector instructions and applicable local requirements; do not assume that any clip that physically fits is suitable.
